Five Picnic Tips

A picnic in the great outdoors is hard to beat on a beautiful summer’s day! In Lund, there are several lovely spots where you can unpack your picnic basket — here are a few suggestions:

  • Botanical Garden – a wonderfully green oasis in the heart of Lund, covering an area of 8 hectares. Settle down and enjoy the thousands of different plant species growing here.
  • Stadsparken (City Park) – the most important green space for the people of Lund, offering large open areas. For those who wish to barbecue, there are designated grill areas near the playground, the large open field, and the parkour playground.
  • Rinnebäck Ravine – on the southwestern edge of Lund you’ll find this hidden gem: a roughly 700-meter-long ravine, perfect for a picnic accompanied by the sounds of a trickling brook and birdsong. Note: keep an eye out for grazing cows here.
  • Nobelparken – the central district park of Brunnshög, made up of small and large "islands". In the middle of the park, a wide open field stretches out — ideal for a picnic. Just a short stroll away lies Kunskapsparken, offering even more places to settle down.
  • Sankt Hans Hills – the city’s largest park features a dramatic landscape of hills and valleys. From its highest point, 86 metres above sea level, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views over the city, the plains, and out towards the Öresund strait.

Do you also feel like doing something but prefer it to be free of charge? Here are seven suggestions with free admission:

  • The Museum of Life (Livets museum) – A loooong museum filled with knowledge and activities about the human body, inventions, and how we work.
